Carissa Moore paid homage to the father of modern surfing, Duke Kahanamoku, after winning the Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020.

Like Duke, Moore is from... Hawaii and more than 100 years after he lobbied for surfing’s inclusion at the Olympics, she claimed victory as the sport finally made its first appearance at the Olympic Games. Moore shared the podium with Bianca Buitendag (RSA) and Tsuzuki Amuro (JPN).
